What if you treated your body like it was wise?
What if your headaches were alerting you to exposure to chemicals or lighting that were harming you?
What if your hunger cues were telling you that your expectations on your body were outstripping your resources?
What if your pain was telling you that your body was misaligned or not supported well in the task at hand?
What if breathing difficulties were showing you that you were pushing your body beyond its limits?
What if your fatigue levels indicated that you were in need of more rest?

The theory of psychosomatic illness suggests that our bodies and minds are so intricately linked that our anxieties and depression can manifest themselves in our bodies.
But what if the opposite was (also?) true?
What if the link was so strong that tuning out our unsupported, unattended bodies over a (long) period of time could actually cause anxiety and depression?
How would that change how we approached mental health care?

The VBIP coaching program operates off this premise: the body is a source of wisdom for each and every one of us. If we want to learn to live well in this world, we have to start by valuing what the body has to say.
